What does “Merauke” mean on this page?
We use Merauke as the source-area name for this product. The name helps you compare regional options, while exact botanical identity, harvest history and shipment status depend on current lot records rather than color or grain alone. Contact us when one of those details is central to your order.
For a broader distinction between species, origin, trade names and grades, use the agarwood types and varieties guide. To assess a purchase non-destructively, follow the agarwood authenticity workflow.
How should buyers interpret the Grade A label?
Agarwood does not have one worldwide A/B/C grading authority. We use Grade A to organize this product in our catalog, and we encourage you to compare it with the current photos, pack weight, price and any available lot information. The label does not promise a fixed resin percentage, sinking behavior, aroma profile or species.
The separate agarwood grading guide explains why density, resin distribution, cut, moisture, cleanliness, aroma under controlled heat and documentation must be evaluated together.
See the Natural Details in Our Photos
Our gallery helps you compare the natural colour, grain, shape and approximate scale of the pictured material. Agarwood varies from piece to piece, so the pack you receive will have its own pattern and outline. If a particular visual feature is important, contact us for a recent batch photo before ordering.
How should Merauke agarwood chips be heated?
Use a purpose-built electric or resin heater at a low setting, then increase gradually until aroma is released without rapid blackening. Different pieces and appliances respond differently, so this page does not promise a universal 120–140°C or 170–240°C setting. Reduce or stop heat if the material chars quickly or produces harsh smoke.
Never burn charcoal indoors. The CDC warns that burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide. If choosing charcoal, use it only in an open-air outdoor location away from doors, windows and vents, in a stable charcoal-rated burner on a non-combustible surface. Keep children, pets and flammable material away; supervise until the charcoal and ash are fully extinguished and cold.
See the full agarwood chip heating guide or browse incense burners.
How much material should you start with?
Begin with a small fragment that fits safely on the heating surface. There is no reliable fixed 1–2 g dose or 15–25-minute duration for every chip: mass, moisture, cut, resin distribution, airflow and heater output all change the result. Let the burner cool before handling residue or adding another piece.
How should the chips be stored?
- Keep the material dry in a clean, closed container away from sun and strong surrounding odors.
- Retain the product/variant label so the origin, grade and pack record remains connected to the order.
- Do not add perfume oil, water or cleaning products; they alter the material and invalidate later comparison.
- If a pack arrives wet, moldy, damaged or different from the selected option, photograph it before use and contact support.

Merauke agarwood chips FAQ
Is Merauke a species of agarwood?
No. On this product page, Merauke is a declared geographic source label. Exact botanical identity requires appropriate records or testing.
How do we use Grade A in this range?
We use Grade A to identify this selection within our Merauke range. Compare the visible material, pack weight, current price and available batch details when choosing your pack.
How many chips are in a pack?
The product is sold by 5 g, 10 g or 30 g net weight, not a guaranteed piece count. Irregular piece size and shape can change the number in a pack.
Does Indonesian agarwood always smell softer than Vietnamese agarwood?
No. Aroma varies by material, resin distribution, storage, cut and heating conditions. Country of origin alone does not guarantee one scent profile.
What temperature should I use?
No single setting fits every chip and heater. Start low, raise heat gradually and reduce or stop when rapid blackening or harsh smoke appears.
Can I return a partially burned pack?
Please review our current Returns & Refunds policy before heating, wearing, resizing or otherwise altering the product. If anything arrives damaged or different from your order, photograph it before use and contact us within seven calendar days.
