Constant contact with soil bacteria, underground insects, and fluctuating moisture forces the tree to produce resin more aggressively and over a longer period than in the trunk. This results in wood with higher oil concentration per gram and a fragrance profile that is noticeably deeper and sweeter than comparable trunk-sourced agarwood.

How to Burn Root Bark Agarwood

Place a small piece on lit activated charcoal inside a ceramic or copper burner. For Root Bark, an electric incense burner at 120–140°C is highly recommended — the slow, controlled heat draws out the full depth of the root oils without burning them off too quickly.
